    exquisite antique French sterling silver and vermeil, or gold washed tray, is triangular in shape with scalloped edges bordered in a “filet” pattern.  The center of the tray has an engraved royal crown. The tray bears two French “
    Minerve
    Premier
    Titre
    ” hallmarks, indicating the highest quality of French sterling silver (950/1000), used in Paris since 1838. The
    Minerve
    Premier
    Titre
    is the guarantee that the sterling is at least 95% silver. The tray also bears two maker’s marks consisting of the initials “A” and “A” surrounding the image of a lance point surmounted by a rooster, the mark of

    , master silversmith located in the fashionable

    in Paris between 1887 and 1911.
