Large Antique English Mahogany and Sterling Silver Tray - 1883

Description

A magnificent and very grand large serving tray, just back from my silversmith, having been professionally cleaned, and polished to gleam.
The base of the tray is made from solid Mahogany and is topped with glass, making this a very practical choice for a drinks / cocktail tray or indeed, perfect for afternoon tea.
The centre is mounted with a vacant cartouche with a decorative foliate engraved border. The silver here is fully hallmarked, as is the gallery and the four feet to the underside; all matching hallmarks for Sheffield 1883, a true Victorian example, the hallmark including the coveted Queen Victoria's head duty mark. The makers initials are also present on all pieces, I believe for Charles Favel of Creswick and Co.
An impressive piece in superb condition spanning 25" x 17" x 3" tall to top of handles.
